Matthias Schlüter

Matthias Schlüter: Exhibition „Über Land, zu Wasser und in der Luft – Dynamische Bilder“

February 20. – May 20. 2019

Matthias Schlüter abstracts everyday life from all over the world. He records his impressions in over 300 sketchbooks, which serve as models for the artistic realization in the studio. Schlüter’s works are based on painting, drawing, and lithography. The thematic focus is on dynamic objects such as the human being in action, the infrastructure and its subsystems in the city or natural landscapes – motifs that are water-colored, collaged, applied to paper and nettles in mixed technique, drawn, printed or folded as a leporello. Schlüter prefers the Jura stone for lithographic works. In contrast to the dynamics he deals with static objects such as suitcases and especially chairs made of wood, metal and plastics. He has won several awards, including the Art Prize of the City of Ingolstadt and the Lithography Scholarship of the Urban Gallery Wolfsburg.
